Lush Beads is a full service bead shop which opened its doors on May 5, 2004. Afer spending over 4 years in downtown Lowell, Lush Beads is now located at the Western Avenue Studios at 122 Western Avenue in Lowell. We sell beads and supplies, offer classes and private lessons, do repairs, and design beautiful finished jewelry for any occasion. We take custom orders, too!
I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. It started with potholders that I would make and sell for $0.25 each. In high school, I learned all sorts of interesting crafty things, like stenciling, applique, reverse applique, wood carving, metal jewelrymaking, and stained glass. I enjoyed my work with stained glass so much that I did a 6 month independent study in it. I pursued this interest in college, taking a course at the Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester, MA.
Sometime in the year 2000 a friend of mine had a bunch of us over to her house to learn a little bit about beading. It was a hobby she enjoyed a great deal and she enthusiastically shared her love and knowledge of beading with all of us. I was hooked, and I've been creating with beads ever since.
I started another business in 2002 to sell my finished jewelry. I merged that business with Lush Beads once I opened the shop in 2004. I have never regretted leaving my IT career to run this shop, or to create with beads on a daily basis.
I continue to design and sell my own jewelry. I also teach classes through Chelmsford Community Education in Chelmsford. I live in Lowell with my cat Miss Cleo.
